Liza
Smith

Teacher, Assessor & Dog Groomer

Founder of The Pet Studio, Liza Smith has been grooming dogs since 2000, when she opened her first grooming salon in Congresbury.  Since then, Liza has built up her expertise and outstanding local reputation within North Somerset.  So now not only do we provide dog grooming services, but we also teach the next generation of dog groomers as well as owners looking to learn to groom their own dogs.

Liza has a huge passion for dogs and has spent over the last 20 years honing her craft, so whether she is grooming your dog in the salon or inspiring and motivating trainee groomers in the Academy, she always brings her signature enthusiasm and support to whoever needs it.

So if you’re looking for a company that understands dogs inside out, look no further than The Pet Studio. Liza brings her skills and experience to every groom, training session and provides her personal assurance of quality and professionalism every time.

Skye Braham

Groomer & Teaching Assistant

Skye is Liza’s daughter, who went to college after leaving school to study Animal Management.  This only lasted two days before she realised that she actually wanted to be a professional dog groomer!  So Skye joined Liza at the Pet studio Training Academy in 2020 and quickly completed her City & Guilds Level 2 qualification.

Skye is a compassionate and caring dog groomer, and her calming nature has led her to specialise in nervous, fearful dogs and young puppies.  Skye’s interaction with these animals is such that they always have an relaxed and stress-free grooming experience and this stems from her absolute patience with all the animals she grooms, allowing them the time and space to acclimatise before embarking on any groom.

Skye also specialises in ultrasonic teeth cleaning and is able to provide outstanding results whilst keeping the dogs calm and relaxed.

Skye has three dogs of her own that she cares for, Marnie, a 6 month old Rottweiler, and Pixie and Cookie, her two Chihuahuas.

Jemma

Head Stylist

Jemma is our Scottish pet stylist who has a passion for dog training. She also loves travelling and the arts from musical theatre to paintings. She has plans to explore Brazil in 2026.

Jemma has years of experience grooming nervous, fearful dogs, using gentle patience to create a positive experience. Her calm approach helps to reduce anxiety and build trust with the dog ❤️

Her specialty lies in handstripping, a meticulous grooming method that requires precision and patience. Jemma has 1 dog of her own, Enzo the Belgian Malinois.

Georgia

Head Stylist

Georgia began working with Liza at The Pet Studio as a dog bather at seventeen years old and since then her love for what she does has only grown. ❤️

Georgia later trained under Liza on her course in 2021 and she was immediately drawn to the creative and technical challenge that dog grooming can offer. One of the things she loves most about grooming is getting the opportunity to work with so many different breeds and getting to know each dog’s unique personality.

From hand-stripping spaniels and terriers, to shaping the perfect ‘teddy bear’ trim, Georgia loves the variety that each new pup offers.
🐶

In her spare time she travels the UK in her converted van with her German Shepherd Billie. She hopes to drive it to France next year for some sightseeing and snowboarding.

Rita

Receptionist

I work at The Pet Studio as a receptionist on a part-time basis.  I really enjoy meeting all the customers as they drop off their precious canine companions for a pampering session.

After the dogs have had a lovely shampoo and blow dry,  I love watching the talented and skilled groomers work their magic by transforming their coats by clipping, scissoring or hand stripping, taking into account the owners individual preferences.

It’s so wonderful to watch the delighted faces of the owners when they come to collect their freshly groomed dogs.

I’ve owned gun dogs for many years and used to enjoy showing my golden retrievers at championship shows around the country. After a gap of 3 years without a furbaby my partner and I took on a little rescue dog called Daisy - she’s a Maltese who is our little princess.  Unlike the Goldie’s I’ve owned before Daisy doesn’t like cold wet weather so is very much a lapdog and very enjoys her pampering sessions at The Pet Studio.🐶

Liz

Receptionist

I work part-time as a receptionist at The Pet Studio and I really enjoy meeting and greeting customers, booking appointments and generally tidying up!

I am fascinated watching the whole grooming process from welcoming the dogs as they arrive, the health check, bathing, grooming, nail clipping, ear and teeth cleaning and finally the excitement as they are reunited with their owners.

I recently adopted a little rescue dog called Lewi. He has become my constant companion and even comes to work with me where he is an enthusiastic “meeter and greeter” of our canine customers 🐶

Bea

Apprentice

After completing work experience at the Pet Studio I was invited to join as an Apprentice.

I love working at the pet studio and everyone is always so lovely and I get to do what I love. In my free time I like to paint, play with my dogs, swim and snowboard.

Kianna

Apprentice

Hi - I’m Kianna, one of the apprentices with a lifelong love for animals.

Having grown up surrounded by pets, caring for animals has always come naturally to me. I’m all about learning everything I can when it comes to grooming and love getting to work with dogs every day.

When I’m not in the salon, you’ll usually find me listening to music, enjoying time with my friends and the animals that have been part of my life from the start.
